Canada is home to some of the largest and most diverse forests in the world. With over one-third of the country covered in trees and a long history of managing our forests, Canadians strongly believe in building with wood.<\/p>

Light-frame wood and, increasingly, mass timber construction are used to build communities across Canada. Wood structures are everywhere, from single and multi-family homes to gathering spaces, healthcare, schools, and office buildings.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

With advances in wood building systems, such as mass timber components, hybrid timber construction<\/a><\/span> and mass timber systems, Canada is a leader in building taller with wood.<\/p>

In Canada\u2019s most western province, British Columbia (B.C.), where major cities are confined by ocean or lake and mountains, there is no choice but to build taller.<\/p>

In the late 2000s, B.C. led North America by increasing the height from four to six storeys for light-frame wood building systems for residential construction. Developers quickly realized this wood-based system was the solution to providing reasonably priced and energy-efficient housing in the mid-rise market.<\/p>

Avec plus d'un tiers du pays couvert d'arbres et un long pass\u00e9 de gestion de nos for\u00eats, les Canadiens croient fermement \u00e0 la construction en bois. Les structures \u00e0 ossature l\u00e9g\u00e8re en bois et, de plus en plus, les constructions en bois massif sont utilis\u00e9es pour \u00e9riger des communaut\u00e9s dans tout le Canada.Les structures en bois sont partout, des maisons unifamiliales et multifamiliales aux espaces de r\u00e9union, centres de sant\u00e9, \u00e9coles et \u00e9difices \u00e0 bureaux.<\/p>

En Colombie-Britannique, la province la plus \u00e0 l\u2019ouest du Canada, le bois est utilis\u00e9 pour construire des maisons et autres structures depuis des milliers d\u2019ann\u00e9e.\u00a0<\/strong>Les constructions par les Premi\u00e8res Nations allaient d\u2019habitations semi-souterraines de forme conique dans la r\u00e9gion int\u00e9rieure de C.-B. aux phares c\u00f4tiers faits de poteaux et poutres. Ces conceptions traditionnelles continuent d\u2019inspirer l\u2019architecture moderne.<\/p>

The Hive<\/span><\/a>\u202f(<\/span>ci-dessous)<\/span>\u00a0un b\u00e2timent de 10 \u00e9tages \u00e0 usage mixte, utilise des contreventements en bois innovants pour r\u00e9sister aux effets des tremblements de terre dans les b\u00e2timents de grande hauteur.
